A common question for homeowners is: “how do I find a great fiberglass pool installer near me?”
I’ve addressed the importance of finding a good contractor in the past, mainly focusing upon important factors like reviews, experience, and fair pricing. But I understand why the topic comes up so often. If you don’t have industry experience, like I do, it can be tough to tell different companies from another.
To make things even more difficult, in most areas there are several different fiberglass pool installers to choose from. In our region of Saugus, Massachusetts there are at least half a dozen. How can someone make the right choice?
The answer is to decide what exactly it is you’re looking for. After all, you don’t just want “a company that installs fiberglass pools,” you want the one that matches your budget, schedule, and style. Dig below the surface of websites and brochures and you’ll start to see some differences.
To give you a sense of what these differences look like in the real world, I want to point out a handful of customer types that usually aren’t a great fit for my business, followed by a few that are. You can see what parallels there are for your own situation.
We Generally Aren’t Looking for Homeowners Who Just Want a Pool
Very few homeowners want “just a pool” in their back yards. Most are better served with a fiberglass pool that is surrounded by other features like a deck, a full patio, an outdoor kitchen, or some lighted walkways.
We like seeing outdoor spaces be transformed. That’s also where our best talents tend to be. So, we won’t usually give a quote for a pool that’s just surrounded by grass. There’s nothing wrong with that, but it doesn’t allow us to do our best work.
But We are Happy to Carry Out Hardscaping and Patio Renovation
When homeowners come to us with an idea for a pool that is the centerpiece of their backyard, we are excited to talk with them about their plans. From simple seating areas to tennis courts, kitchens, and other features, we love bringing these dreams to life.
Our business and reputation weren’t grown on doing the simplest patio renovation projects. When we get a chance to take on a bigger hardscaping job, with or without a pool, we know that it’s a good match for our team.
We Don’t Usually Offer the Lowest Upfront Price for Fiberglass Pool Installation
This is a difficult one because we understand that there are lots of people who will choose a fiberglass pool installer based on price alone. Unfortunately, that means we can’t always be competitive.
But We do Think We Offer the Greatest Fiberglass Pool Value
Even though we don’t offer the cheapest quotes for fiberglass pool installation, we do think we are able to offer the biggest amount of value.
That might sound like a contradiction, but it really isn’t. Over the years we have forged relationships with the best fiberglass pool manufacturers, meaning we can sell sleek, beautiful, and durable products with long warranties. Additionally, we offer expert excavation, installation, and patio design – not to mention yearly maintenance.
When you put all of that together it means that our pools are made by premium manufacturers, look better, last longer, and require less ongoing attention. That makes them a better value for a majority of homeowners, even if they cost slightly more up front.
On top of that, we give accurate quotes for fiberglass pool installation. It’s unfortunate, but some businesses try to lure homeowners in with imaginary prices and then surprise them with big fees for excavation, decks, etc. after they have signed on the dotted line. We don’t do business that way, but it means that some competitors can give out lower estimates than we can.
We Aren’t Always Able to Complete Rush Pool Installation Jobs
Once a homeowner pays their deposit for fiberglass pool installation, they want to see the job completed as quickly as possible. However, our team can sometimes get booked up for several weeks before we can start a new job. That can send last-minute customers scrambling to see who has short-term availability.
But We Handle Fiberglass Pool Installations Quickly and Professionally
We tend to be busy because we have a great reputation and a long track record of handling patio renovations right way. We know how to survey and prepare a property, excavate the ground, and install fiberglass pools in a way that won’t lead to unnecessary delays. In other words, you might have to wait a little bit longer to work with us, but you can trust that we have the equipment and expertise to move as quickly as we can without sacrificing quality.
Conversely, some companies can always take new work because they weren’t that busy to start with. They’re hoping you’ll be in a rush and won’t think too carefully about why that might be.
What Kind of Fiberglass Pool Installer are You Looking For?
No business is perfect for every customer, and there are times when we miss out on a project because we don’t do pool-only installs, won’t underquote for our work, and give homeowners realistic schedules to work with. We know that some of our competitors do things differently, and as a result are able to pick up business we can’t.
But on the other hand, our commitment to creative patio design, durable construction, and doing things the right way has made us popular with our customers. We are happy to do what we can for them, and to refer homeowners who don’t match up with us elsewhere.
The point isn’t to say that our approach to fiberglass pool installation is better or worse. I just want more buyers to be intentional about what they search for when they get quotes.
