Turf Care

Turf Care Application Applied at your property

To see which of the below steps were applied, see your door hanger.

Step 1
Crabgrass Control and Fertilizer

Caution: Pre-emergent herbicide was applied, stay off for 1-2 hours or until the product dries.

About the Application: Pre-Emergent herbicide was applied before the crabgrass seed germinates. The application creates a barrier in the soil that minimizes seedlings from emerging. The fertilizer provides essential nutrients to promote healthy growth, improve soil fertility and enhance the appearance.

Watering Instructions: After applying a crabgrass control product, you should water the area with a light to moderate amount of water, aiming for roughly 1/2 inch of water from either rainfall or irrigation within a few days of application to activate the herbicide and ensure it properly penetrates the soil.

Maintenance Best Practices: Maintain a thick, healthy lawn through proper mowing heights (around 3”), fertilization, daily watering and overseeding. This will also help make it harder for crabgrass to germinate.

Can I Apply Seed with this Application: No

BENEFICIAL TURF CARE

Fungicides:

About the Application: Fungicides are used to control fungal diseases that can damage your lawn. Fungicides are not part of our turf care program. Recommendations and pricing will be provided if the technician identifies a disease during your turf care application.

Aeration:

Best Practice: Aerating in the late summer/ early fall is crucial for maintaining a healthy lawn in the northeast. It helps improve water infiltration, nutrient absorption and root growth. Combine this with overseeding and applying a starter fertilizer.

Seeding/ Overseeding:

Best Practice: The ideal time to Seed is Between Mid August through the beginning of October. This timeframe has the ideal soil temperature (60-65 degrees), has fewer weed problems and cooler nights to hold the moisture in the ground.

Spring Seeding: If seeding in the spring is your best option, it is tricker. This is due to weed competition and soil temperature (50-55 degrees) are on the lower end and take longer to germinate.

Fertilizer: A Starter Fertilizer is needed to promote root development.

Mowing: Wait until the grass is 3”
